====== Cash prize offered for cross-platform ActionScript coding plugin ====== Hi all, Growing impatient with the lack of a cross-platform ActionScript coding solution comparable to those available on Windows, Turdhead.com (which hosts a series of articles on improving jEdit for use as an AS2/AS3 editor) has decided to throw a little money at the problem: We've launched a "Developers Challenge" contest in which a $300 prize donation will be awarded to the developer or team that manages to create the most elegant, open-source, ActionScript-coding plugin for one of two existing cross-platform editors: jEdit or OpenKomodo. It's not much money, but we're hoping it's enough to at least pique some interest within the open-source community (and if the contest goes well, perhaps we can do it again to address another unfilled need). The main goal of the contest is to create at least a simple autocompletion plugin for one of the two editors mentioned. As there are a few on this site who have already worked to create such solutions for Windows-based editors, I figured there may be some interest. (And if anybody already knows of a working solution that meets the requirements, it's certainly eligible as well. We don't want to step on any existing project's toes, but we //do// want to bring more quality coding tools to the Macintosh and Linux platforms.) Registration is open until March 15, and all final entries are due by April 15. Check the announcement on the site for details. Thanks. ~~DISCUSSION~~
