Testimonials

Hello guys,

I’m trying to get some testimonials on pixlib. I’d like to put them online the day of my conference (saturday). If anyone’s interested to share why he uses and likes pixlib, feel free to post few lines on this mailing-list with your full name and position, even in french.

Thanks in advance ! :)

Why a testimonial?

Why I alldays use Pixlib ? just because it is faster better and allow really robust and clean development. That’s all ^_^

Perhaps you already know ;), I currently work ( free time ) on my Fever AS2 Framework. Fever is full based on Pixlib and allow me to make a really efficient framework to develop a “FAP” ( Fever / AsWing / Pixlib ) application ( or site ). I use them alldays now !

Why based on Pixlib and not on another AS2 framework ( small explanations ) ?

- The Event API is powerfull and still easy to use : Strong typing, callback arguments as Event class and the possibility to hack what we want using the DynBasicEvent make the API efficient. We easily know what / where / when we broadcast our events. FrontController is certainly the stronger class of this API. Efficient for complexe UI development control. Just a note : a small bubbling implementation could be cool ;)

- The MVC template ( Welcome to the paradise ) Even if we don’t have to use this pattern alldays, Pixlib allow a faster concrete implementation. Want to build a complete VideoPlayer for example ! easy and we can use the MVC pattern to allow a “view plugin” system. Many views for 1 model ! that’s the power... data / view separation ! Newest implementation ( Model / View ) give necessaries tools to quickly develop data interactions Once again... code still very very clean.

- The Logging API ( log log log, I want to log ) Again....it’s easy and clean. Channel and Level definition give basic ( but efficient ) way to filter our log messages. Usefull tracer are implemented, we have all that we need !

- The remoting API ( bye bye Adobe implemetation ) Not many framework offer this kind of API. Pixlib’s one stay in the Pixlib style ( Event API, Logging feature and clean code ) RecordSet work like a charm ;)

The Place of Pixlib in my dev line :

Data & Logic : Pixlib UI View representation / interactions : **AsWing** using Pixlib MVC pattern for most of the time A note of **Fever** for the “mayonnaise” ^_^

I could speak about it during hours so much about good things are in Pixlib ;) I don’t talk about the collections, transitions, ....but all still really easy to use, clean and efficient ! It’s really an amazing framework and it enables me to develop faster and faster without loss of quality.

Some people can say : ” but it misses many things in Pixlib, Mathematical utilities, UI creation, some collection structures, etc” ( just example ^_^ ) Yes ! BUT Pixlib is precise ! it’s not an GUI Framework and it’s not a singular fremwork which is satisfied to concentrate all the tools existing already in other frameworks. Pixlib has it’s own implementation spirit ! I think it’s here and made to give “basic” usefull and strong tools to help developer in theirs task. Thus... Pixlib is part of a toolbox that a developer can use, it’s not the toolbox ! ( personal feeling ;) )

Pixlib keyworks : clean / well design / robust / effcient / easy to use

Ok...I have to go... many projects to finish.... Pixlib...here I am !!! ^_^ Thanks again Francis for your amazing work ;)

Why I use Pixlib ?

I’m not an actionscript guru, but I love clean code, and clean concepts, and that’s what I’ve found in Pixlib. After looking at many other frameworks, their approach is either to complex for my level, too heavy to set up, not productive enough or just simply not adapted to my needs, this being a relatively free framework, but on which I can rely to concentrate on what I really like in this job: creating funny games.

Whitch features I love in Pixlib ?

First of all, A clean architecture for events, commands and media management (EventDispatcher, Batch and Co, AbstrabLib, etc...). Then the transitions package with tweens and beacons is really powerfull (I love the fact that register a tween as listener for another one create a chain of tweens). The logging API as Romain said is really a great tool.

There is so much to say about it that I can’t remember all the features I use and love (HashCodeFactory, Grid, and so on)

Hope that Pixlib have a long life

Pixlib is an attempt to make as2 a neighbor of j2ee without the extra weight. This is what make this framework powerful for entreprise level applications… without the beans.

From a newbie, in french ...

<p class=”user_addict”> I use PixLib for his lightweight, efficiency, and facility to extend. I use it into small as important projects. It’s also a good way for everyone to learn again and again a really good application design, all is in to build your own need. Enjoy with it. </p>

Faible couplage!

Pixlib is a very good framework, it’s permit you to build a good structure for your applications. With pixlib, no problem to implement many features in the future for the applications. You have one ore more model associated to views. It’s very easy to add some user’s interaction in your flash application.

I like Pixlib because with it, you can developp many faster and with pleasure.

I try to learn the features of pixlib but they have to many good features!!! I use XmlToObject, Logger, Remoting, Event, Libstack, Command, Delegate...

If you are curious, try pixlib :-)

And you?
