ah, I'm with you David.....
I don't think its possible to secure the client unless the player itself allows a digitally signed swf where the server could request the signature of the swf itself.
If the swf is sending data to the server it can be spoofed/compromised by a developer and the sandbox won't project the server if the client is running inside the flash player or IDE.
Its late, I need to think more after sleep :)
