Not open source, so this may not be of interest, but the folks from ESRI
(http://www.esri.com/) were at MAX showing a extensive set of public web
services for map and route data together with a set of UI components in
Flex, and SWF/Vector based maps which they converted from original
source data. It will be available fairly soon (a bit later this year).
That said, it isn't open source, so forgive me if irrelevent to you.
