Excuse me if i'm absolutely mistaken!!
It seems that your project doesn't need any high performance web
server. It doesn't have large transactions nor continuous client-
server communication (just retrieving data). PHP is enough.
Migrate to Java is not so easy. If the app isn't very long you'll
have thousands of lines more than the php implementation. Although
Java is a better language It might be more difficult to maintain than
the php version, !
Flex: Update it to flex2. It's very slow in my machines (pentium4 1.5
and ibook 1.2 PPC).
