[osflash] [OT] one editor for everything (emacs)

Thank you all for the replies!
I guess we should stick to the ideas and try not to get much coupled to a
certain tool. I like the simplicity and power of Emacs. However, Eclipse is
also a killer platform (and marvelous piece of work, kudos to all the
Eclipse platform developers!) and JDT, as hank sais - "lives and breaths
java" - it's not about languages being so similar (they really are) but
rather it is about having the tool helping you write good code and letting
you focus on what's important. The Eclipse plug-ins that really leverage the
Eclipse platform actually do that, they really help you code!
So, I guess there isn't really the holy grail of editor as much as there
isn't the holy grail of languages. I will stick with the main idea from the
book, though - "automatize everything you can". I will also study emacs on
my spare time (well, I hope I get some free time soon :P) - I also think
it's important not to have a fanatic mindset - it only limits our minds.
Cheers and happy 2007 everyone!
Marcelo.
