Yep, you can do that. I would suggest taking a look at ScreenweaverHX:
http://screenweaver.com/. It gives you a ton of options for executables that
you would not get with a standard Flash projector.

Also, you can use the stand alone Flash Player to generate executables for
the Platform you are running on. Open a SWF that you have created with MTASC
or another tool and then select File->Create Projector.
