[osflash] state of osflash?

Hi Everyone

This is my first post, sorry if it's a dumb one, I'm just thinking about 
learning flash/actionscript and I presently know absolutely nothing.

The link to the mailing list archives is dead, this may have been asked 
before...

I was just wondering if you guys are able to work entirely without 
closed source tools when working with flash/actionscript?

I just heard that Adobe is opening up the SWF format and I just learned 
that the actionscript virtual machine is already open source. Are there 
any aspects of this technology that are still closed source? Is the 
osflash community working to open flash through reverse engineering and 
if so are we just at an "alpha" level?
