Hi Sebastian,

PaperWorld is a bit of a monster project that i'm currently writing the
framework for. It's a set of development tools, really, for creating your
own space-based multiplayer game environment. These environments can then be
connected to each other so you can log-in, choose a star-system, join it and
fly around shooting your friends.... more than that though, there are a set
of APIs so as a developer you can create your own mods for the games you
create, create new weapons, comm systems etc.etc. you can share your models
around, create star systems (sorry, said that already) all sorts of stuff.

We're hoping to have a RC1 release in the next couple of weeks, but then
i've been saying that for a month or so now... time is a scarce resource at
my house right now. The code will be released under the MIT licence, like
PV3D, in order to try and give as many people as possible the chance to
produce something awesome, contribute and keep the project growing.

The system uses Red5 for the server-side stuff as the other PaperWorld
developer is the omnipresent John Grden who also works on that project. The
star wars game was originally John's Proof of Concept for the whole thing
which has developed it's own life and become our sort of internal
workflow... John proves it's possible and i then integrate it into the
framework.

We did briefly consider streaming objects but have decided to go with
another method for reasons of file size and bandwidth usage... We're also
employing a variety of Flash Platform based technologies as part of the
mission statement for the project was to provide a sort of benchmark for
just how far you can push Flash.... so keep an eye out in the next few weeks
for the details of the release and i look forward to hearing your feedback.

T
