Good job for quick and easy access, though .... Collada export is  
already available in Maya 2008 with the FBX library (support has been  
there since version 8.0 or 8.5 I believe).

The free Autodesk FBX Converter also supports translation to FBX from  
a few formats (OBJ, DXF, 3DS and FBX, I believe).
