While i agree it was no good idea the guy used that site as his
portfolio site as its really way too close in look to yours to be
counted creative and doesn´t add anything special or new itself,
sorry to say, but the concept of your site isn´t especially creative by
itself and thereofor i wouldn´t wonder to see way more sites using that
sheet of paper concept in a while, especially now that with flash 10 it
will be easier to show planes perspectively displaced without even using
one of the custom 3d engines or an own one. Its really what many people
doodling around with flash 10´s out of the box 3D props features will do
first and 99.9% will not have thought in slightest of your site, just
hey cool,i have a plane and can make it pan perspectively on mouse move.
If you think that was an outstandingly creative idea and noone should
ever do the sheets of paper with slight panning and swapping effect like
that on select, then sorry.
Am i against one site mimicking the other so closely in everything
(colors, layout, effects etc) ? Yeah, of course, cause it doesn´t give
much reason to check out both if they are exact clones, unless they at
least both got very special interesting own content which goes beyond a
portfolio page.
Is the concept of the first site itself that unique and creative in
outstanding way, so anyone who just does a similar effect should be seen
as obvious copycat because of copying such a special out of the ordinary
unique idea (like let´s say a yugop menu everyone will always remember
as yugop menu because no one else seemed to imagine something like that
back then) ?
No.
