[Papervision3D] - Bend modifier geometry?

Hey again all,
I've been tearing my hair out in clumps over this issue. I'm using Bartek Drozdz's excellent Bend modifier for Papervision3D and for my particular application I need to refer to a part of the 'bent' geometry of a cylinder object as an anchor point for a Line3D. At first I stupidly assumed that I could just add a child object with a location at the end of the cylinder and use it as the anchor, but of course the location of a bending object is still the same, despite the bend.
So, does anyone have any experience with the Bend modifier, and if so, any ideas? I have a cold and I'm just not thinking clearly today :( so this will all probably seem stupidly simple by tomorrow.
