Shannon,
Your last point is correct...in that the path to the image wont be
embedded in the material if you leave "Use UV Image Mats" unchecked.
But in Ronald's case he just wanted to unwrap specific faces of his
model so he could apply a image and use a normal colour material for
the rest. The only way to allow this is to leave "Use UV Image Mats"
unchecked. Then in PV3D you can load in your images however you like
and add them to a materialslist object that corresponds with the
material you unwrapped in Blender.

TRUE - any materials that haven't been unwrapped will be preserved in

.dae ;
TRUE - surface colors ( aka ColorMaterials ) will be defaulted onto
pv3d
models instead of WireframeMaterials;
FALSE - any materials that have been unwrapped will be preserved in
the .dae
