Hey,
First off I would like to say how impressed I am with the activity in
the flash open source community. It is really cool to see so much
happening at once it has me very exited. I have been starting to develop
a game for some time now, I say starting because each time I make any
ground I come across some new technology that looks like it will make
life easier. I have a lot of the gamer code completed but have been
looking for the best way to get real time communication between players.
Originally before really looking around I was going to use Communication
Server MX (stupid idea I know) then on hunting around some more I found
Electroserver, this is when the project really became possible in my
eyes and coding started in Ernest. Then I discovered Oregano server and
once again back to the drawing board I went but after a week of this I
found OSFlash.
Looking into Red5 & AMF I became very exited all of the problems I have
had with encoding into and from XML and the size of the files eating
away at bandwidth seem like a thing of the past but before I get too
carried away I thought I would ask you guys some noob questions.
Can Red5 broadcast messages to any connected clients without a request?
This is really my only concern, if this is possible I am going to do my
best to learn Java (something I have been putting off for a while) and
get stuck into Red5's code.
Thanks in advance.
Jim
