[Red5] Immediately playing back recorded streams

Hello,
I am attempting to build a simple app that records a stream from a
webcam then plays it back. I can record just fine, but the recorded
stream doesn't seem to be playable until the index (.meta) file gets
generated. Problem is, I can't seem to figure out what triggers the
generation of the index file--if I restart the server or reconnect
enough times, it eventually appears, but I really need to be able to
play back immediately after recording.
I understand from my friend Niels that the indexing code is somewhat
in flux right now. I'm using 0.6.2--would using a newer build help?
Can I trigger the indexing programmatically, and get an event when
it's done? Or can I configure Red5 to not require the index files at
all? 2-3 minute webcam recordings are relatively tiny, and I don't
need seeking. I just need to be able to playback a recorded file
without having to wait around.
Thanks,
Ryan
