[Red5] Bandwith Limitation Default

Hi,

i developed a simple video streaming app.
And I included a test of the bandwith to choose which stream to play.
It works really good for small bandwiths (bandwith < 500kbps).
I found out that even on a local system the bandwith wont go over 500kbps.
Is it a default for the bandwith configuration? I double checked with a
bandwith checker and it reported some Mbps so the network bandwith is 
not the problem.
I had a look on the transmitted bytes on wire with ethereal and it is 
roughly what i expected.
And the time it took  to transmit the data was as well correct.
So my measurement seems to be correct. So i was wondering is it a 
configuration problem?
