[Red5] windoze or linux for a red5 server

Hello,
I am new to the whole red5 world.
I am going to be building a new box just to be a red5 server.
I am looking for suggestions on which OS.
the purpose of this box will be capturing videos from webcam and also
uploading videos and getting videos from cell phones.
then also playing these videos.
I am a linux guy but found a really nice/easy (it appears to be
anyways) converter
http://www.flashsyndrome.com/converter.php, but it is a windoze based service.

So i am looking to suggestions etc. from personal experiences.
