Also another interesting thing I should point out is that VLC can open up
the handy cam stream on the card. So really, I can receive an encoded stream
from their in h.263/4 + mp3 format. I think there would be some more stuff I
would need to do I am presuming but VLC is a good way to get this started
for myself if I can do this.

It does come up in the list but I get nothing except a blue screen, my
capture card is also a TV tuner and I think its trying to open the tv tuner
aspect of it..Unfortunately this sony handy cam doesn't have firewire and I
have had to use a composite connection to the capture card to capture the
stream.
What do you mean exactly by DV Video?

The device doesnt show up in the camera device list ? I know for certain my
RME audio interface shows up as it's own device in the microphone list, its
a firewire connected device aswell. Maybe DV Video might work ?

I understand btw, that I would need to encode the steam into formats that
flash accepts, and the model of the card is DTV2000H.Because if this is the
only way to do it, I am happy to start up a project for this.I need to get
this camera to work with flash.

Ok I am trying to atm, open up my Capture card as a 'broadcaster' to RED5.
Im using the example provided in the Re5 tutorials/swf folder. My capture
card has my sony handy cam hooked up to it. However, ive been pretty
unsuccessful so far. Would something like this allow me to use c++ on
windows to open up a stream from the capture card programmatically using
windows api's (DirectShow?)? OR am I just going about this the wrong way
because I am pretty sure someone out there has done this..But I cant see
flash opening up my capture card to use as a broadcaster to RED5..
BTW, the capture card is a WinTV DVT2000h

Well, the first thing I did with it is picture in picture broadcasting with
avi overlays, however it occured to me I wasnt limited to just utilizing
multimedia support, but could actually call any native widows api from
flash.
Sure php and other methods can give you a handle on OLE com objects, but
here you have the opportunity to call c++ for whatever return value.
Screen capture would be aproximatly 20 lines of code on the c++ side in this
vCam class.

Geraint Davies has released open source mpeg4 muxers and demuxers.
THis is just mostly a excersize in my imagination steming from a request to
capture the rgb color of a point clicked on any application widow and giving
it to flash.
The main point is being able to use mfc and win32 api in you air and flash
applications.
To do what with it, sorry, what's the outcome. A screen capture source ?
