Are you talking about a Dev or Production deployment?
If Dev, I don't know if it makes a diff, but have you tried launching
Eclipse first with superuser (eg root) permissions? The assumption which
might be mistaken is that anything spawned from Eclipse hopefully would
inherit those permissions.
So, for instance since I'm running Eclipse using a kde desktop, on SuSE
I can invoke the application launcher with
ALT-F2
Then type in
Kdesu /<path>/eclipse
If you're running on Vista, there is a similar setting in the Eclipse
executable's properties (Run As Administrator). XP would probably be
trickier... You might have to launch using the RunAs command. If this is
a dedicated Dev box, you can also do things like configure Eclipse to
run as a Service, and configure a Service Account with sufficient
permissions.

Subject: [Red5] superuser launch for red5 plugin
Has anyone managed yet to launch red5 as superuser ? There is going to
be issues still launching rtmps etc from eclipse.
Let me know how its possible, i've tried finding some feature to let
you debug things as superuser :\
