And more important still is the ability to get $1 from 100 people for
something like h264 encoded bitstreams handling .

If you have to ask then most likely not.
Having said that, is good to put back in to something you benefit from,
even if giving means you dont get to write it off.

Couple of questions here:
1) If I put out a bounty but end up implementing a feature myself,
do I get the bounty myself?
2) Is it tax deductable to donate to an open source project?
(Canada)
3) What is the best way to convince management to invest in such a
thing :-)

I want to let everyone know that I have set up a bounty program for our
favorite project :)
You can read more about it here: <http://osflash.org/red5/bounty>
http://osflash.org/red5/bounty
I will update the page as needed and I will also be changing the email
address to a more recognizable version: <mailto:bounty at red5.org>
bounty at red5.org as soon as I can. Since anyone (i think) can edit those
wiki pages, make sure that the donations go to Red5 Bounty and the
associated email address and domains in use are correct. The donate
button in on a page within my domain because it doesn't work in the
osflash wiki so if its not <http://www.gregoire.org/bounty.html>
http://www.gregoire.org/bounty.html then you've got the wrong page.
I hope that this program will serve to get the features that you want
implemented in a more expeditious manner.
