[Red5] changes to build.xml since 0.7?

still looking for clarification on how to integrate custom apps into
build.xml...
I can do it old-school by adding my own custom app <copy/> block to
the compile_demos script within build.xml, but I'm curious about the
status of custom build scripts, so as to avoid svn-update overwrites.
what is the current best practice?
