Hi folks,
Would people who are using Ffmpeg to encode videos for broadcast on
Red5 share the settings they are using, and why they chose them?
Specifically:
- What format (e.g. flv), video codec (e.g. mpeg4) and audio codec
(e.g. mp3) are you converting FROM
- What fomat, video codec and audio codec are you converting TO
- What is the EXACT ffmpeg command line you use
- Why you settled on that ffmpeg command line (i.e. quality was most
important or needed lowest bandwidth file, etc.)
Why sharing this information will HELP YOU:
I'm puttering around with Red5 and Ffmpeg and trying to figure out how
they might work together, and specifically, what are possible good
approaches for potentially having red5 encode on the fly. For example
what sort of latency versus cpu versus quality trade-offs should be
made in the real world. By sharing this information you'll give me a
set of "real world" targets that I measure.
I'll then aggregate all the results, and do some tests encoding
different files at the popular rates suggested by the community, and
then publish the results on the Wiki page. You'll get to see how your
suggestions work compared to other folks suggestions.
If you can help, please reply with answers to the questions above.
Thanks in advance,
- Art
(sorry Dominick, I know I should ask people to post to the wiki page,
but I'd rather not impose a barrier to response right now).
