[Red5] Live Stream Audio Lag

I've been having good results so far with my red5 server for on demand
content, but my live streams are suffering from a several second audio
lag when using commercial encoding apps (on2 for example).  The
publisher demo app has good live audio sync so I'm wondering if I've
missed the bulletin telling me the obvious how-to sync live audio info. 
Sorry if I'm rehashing a tired subject, but I've got an event next
weekend and am hoping to replace the windows media with the red5 :)
