I have now completed three installations of red5 and In am convinced
that aside from needinig some proper documentation there are a number
of other issues
1st install Windows 2003 Server Red 5 Version . 7 Windows installer. I
could see demo apps, and was never able to establish a connection to
the server
2nd install Ubuntu 8.04 , I installed the .deb installer ver .8, and I
can not even be sure the server is running. I could see the test at
http://ipaddress:5900 , and iptables said that it is listeniing on
port 5900
3rd instaslation was oon windows 2003 server , installation was on
Windows 2003 Server installed Red5 Ver .8 . As in the deb installer
seems to be listening, but here again, no demo apps and the
http://ipaddress:5900 not even text, but definately a blank page.
I had nearly given up on red5 after the first install, now I am
thinking it was the thing to do. I understand it is open source, but
it really does lack clear and concise documentation that is versiion
specific. Even the port numbers seem to be different from version .7
to version.8 with absolutely no mention of it whatsoever. Many of the
red5 pages yield only a "bad gateway" message as they have for nearly
a month now. Even watching messages on this list seems to deliver
answers to those posting.
I have installed some open source packages before, but none were so
poorly documented as red5
Seems to me that this is one of the biggest time wasters I have ran
int in a very long time.
