[Red5devs] garbled audio + video

greetings,

I have been happily using red5 since September... and have recently been
stumped by an odd situation; my audio and video are completely garbled when
streamed from one of my new applications!

the audio is hissy and staticy, the picture is almost unintelligible,
heavily embossed (mostly gray)...

the bizarre twist for me is:

-- it is garbled when running locally from ant server
-- it is NOT garbled (100% ok!) when red5 is running locally as a service
-- it is again garbled when running remotely ( same .jar file! )

does this ring a bell for anyone?

any help would be much appreciated!
