Sorry i didn't reply earlier, i'm running low on batteries these days :-)
Here's what i meiled to Helmut,
yes i had some deeper look at the GUI File. But first let me introduce
myself.
My name is ... well you know it already, and i'm from northern Germany.
I was an early beta-tester for SMIX and have loved it from day one.
Back in those days i was doing alot of Flash based things.
Now, that was back in those days, i haven't slept til then, but feel a
little
bit rusty, since i digged very deep into HTML and CSS the last two years.
I currently work for a company called "enteraktiv"
which does Accessible Webdesign.
If you know German, you can read more about what we do at our site.
If not, you won't miss very much i think, it hasn't much to do with
flash anyway :-)
I have done some little things in Flash though, and never lost the touch
to it.
Now that SWOS is alive and very kickin',i feel the need to give some
action back,
since i got a free copy back then for beta-testing ...
Now back to what i said i would do:
I had some deeper look at the GUI, and first thing i stumbled upon was
that all those
wizards, and the editor and everything are being kept in one place. That
makes it
very hard to debug.
Second thing is the use of AS1, which should change. Maybe F8 can give
us some
double-extras in there. Nothing special i think of right now.
When i first saw this my thought was: "this is definately way too much
work for me".
But since so few people were on the track than, i thought it was better
to be patient
til somebody says: i wanny help too!
Now that Thomas Wester and Martijn de Visser seem to be "back", i feel
much better now :-)
Since my daily work wouldn't let me do too much work on this, i think it
is best
if i take the role as a 'junior-developer-hard core-tester'.
Well much said now, here's my thoughts on how we should start our work:
Apart from the GUI-Fla, we should make sure, we always have the latest /or
at least the same engine / base. That said, i must admit, i have no idea
how i
should compile this beast, since i have no VS, and this might be over my
head,
at least til Darron posts some solution for the poor :-)
(read: not willing to use a cracked or sortof version of VS and not having
anything to do with c++ anyway)
I don't know, how this can be handled, maybe we should gather our team, and
create some 'private mailinglist', until we are clear about what should
be done.
Maybe you can moderate this, since you cannot trust those SMIXies :-)
they seem to be everywhere :-)
---------------------------
Some loose thoughts till now:
1) split the editor and the wizard (maybe some loadMovie Stuff would be
handy ... since the idea of having swf-dll's is not the badest)
2) split the GUI stuff from API calls. maybe it's not even needed to
make those as classes and stuff, think more of dll's.
It doesn't need to be that compicated. And by keeping things simple, we
keep the chances of being
better supported by the community, keeping it simple.
Well i hope i didn't bore you too much ... i'm electrified by the whole
thing!
hope you didn't mind my loooong mail
greetings
micha
