I think you might not have a started a project in Eclipse before trying 
to add a new file? Starting a new Eclipse project is done by selecting 
File -> New -> Other -> Simple -> Project. Alternatively, you could also 
add a .swx file (using either the new file wizard or by hand) to an 
existing (for example AMES) project.

Let me know if that doesn't fix the problem.
