that is obviously a problem on my side- i'll dig into it right now...

yes- please produce two as-simple-as-possible swfs with the font and a textfield using it, one with and one without smoothing... although, i now remember- this feature might actually be done by the flash ide in that it manipulates the font glyph shapes during export- something swfmill won't do. but please send me those swfs so i can confirm this.
