well- it can. the functionality is a bit experimental still, so you might have to do some adaptions to the xslt, but it works quite nice for most inkscape things and if your svg is not more than a bunch of <g>s and <path>s, you might be set. you can import svg like any other asset. please try and let us know how it goes, this sounds like a nice project.
