[swfmill] compiling on Linux

Moving from OSX now to Linux, I have a linux server running Fedora core 
5.  I got a list of missing things after running autogen.sh:

checking for g++... no
checking for c++... no
checking for gpp... no
checking for aCC... no
checking for CC... no
checking for cxx... no
checking for cc++... no
checking for cl... no
checking for FCC... no
checking for KCC... no
checking for RCC... no
checking for xlC_r... no
checking for xlC... no

any advice on how to install these? I tried yum search, but the library 
repository for RH5 doesnt have anything.
