mmm... sorry I wont be much help then on how to compile from source
then. There is probably other information around in the email archives.
but generally speaking you need to install the development libraries
that the code needs to build the application. gcc is one of these. when
you try to build the application the system will tell you what libraries
you are missing, so you just follow those until it stops complain.
