[swx] SWX Object exists, but call isn't executed

That might sounds like a silly suggestion but, why not create a new SWX 
instance ?

swxMailer = new org.swxformat.SWX();

And set all the SWX object parameters (gateway, etc) there too?

By the sound of it, you're in a bit of a rush since rewriting isn't an option.. that might get you out of trouble as a quick solution..
