[WiiFlash] works in flash, not in flash player?

I am just beginning to play around with WiiFlash and have been able to succesfully build a little demo. 

Everything works fine when i preview the movie within Flash. However, if I try to run the same SWF outside of Flash (in a html page, a projector, or just double-clicking the SWF to launch the Flash player) it doesn't work.

I am importing the classes wiimote, wiimoteEvent & buttonEvent.

What is also strange is the same is true when I test the demos in your SVN depository. They work fine when I run them from within Flash, but if I open them with Flash closed they do not respond. Any ideas? I'm sure I'm doing something dumb... :)
